Meredith Rizzo

Meredith Rizzo is a visuals editor and art director on NPR’s science deskwith an expertise in explanatory visual journalism and a strong interest in alternative digital storytelling formats. Meredith joined NPR in 2013, producing award-winning projects that illuminate science topics through photographic storytelling, video, animation and illustration. As an art director, she has produced science explainer videos, animated video series, and episode art for three seasons of the NPR podcast Invisibilia. Her strong interest in experimental digital storytelling has led to interactive visual projects, including an immersive guide exploring the recyclability of common plastics and NPR’s Joy Generator, which won an Edward R. Murrow award for innovation in 2022. Meredith holds an MFA in New Media Photojournalism from Corcoran College of Art + Design and a degree in Photography from Wolverhampton University in the U.K. Prior to joining NPR, she photographed artifacts from the Library of Congress’ collections, contributing to a public archive of more than 150,000 images over four years.
