Jessica Koscielniak
Jessica Koscielniak is an award-winning photo and video journalist based in Washington, DC. Currently, she is a Senior Producer, for Breaking News and Enterprise at The Washington Post. Before joining The Post, she was a senior visual journalist at USA Today where she covered the war in Ukraine, military suicides in Alaska and covid-19. She also produced high-profile interviews, including Vice President Kamala Harris. Before USA Today, Jessica worked at McClatchy and the Chicago Sun-Times as a deputy visuals editor, senior producer, video reporter and photographer. Jessica has vast field experience in both breaking news and enterprise reporting. She has covered natural disasters and social unrest in the United States, including the Jan. 6 insurrection. She documented Chicago’s gun violence epidemic and the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Some of her enterprise reporting included unfettered access to a Texas juvenile facility, where she documented incarcerated youth at Gainesville State School and their chance at redemption through football. Jessica has been recognized by the Emmys, the Edward R. Murrow Awards, Pictures of the Year International, NPPA’ Best of Photography, the White House News Photographers Association, the Online Journalism awards and the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Awards. In her free time, Jessica is always ready for an adventure. She loves swimming, scuba diving and golfing. She is married to photographer Tasos Katopodis. They have two lovable but lazy dogs, Maddie and Penelope.
