Julia Demaree-Nikhinson
Julia Demaree-Nikhinson, a University of Maryland graduate, began her career with The Associated Press as an intern in the New York City bureau in 2022. She went on to freelance for the AP, Reuters, The Washington Post, The New York Times, AFP, Bloomberg, Getty, and other outlets in Washington, D.C. In 2024, she was hired as a staff photographer for the AP in New York before moving to the D.C. bureau, where she continues to cover a wide range of stories. Her work has been recognized by several organizations, including the White House News Photographers Association, the New York Press Photographers Association, the National Press Photographers Associatio,n and the Newswomen’s Club of New York.
