- [Michelle McLoughlin](https://northernshortcourse.org/volunteer/michelle-mcloughlin/) - Michelle McLoughlin is a contract photographer based in Southern Connecticut, photographing editorial and corporate assignments worldwide. Partial client list includes Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, MINI Cooper, BMW, NBC Universal, Nestle, and ESPN. McLoughlin earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Boston University and is an active participant in the National Press Photographers Association, currently chairing the Northern Short Course in Photojournalism and grants manager for the National Press Photographers Foundation. Her work has been honored by NPPA Best of Photojournalism, The Associated Press Managing Editors Association, The Society of Professional Journalists, and The New England Newspaper Association. She was a Eddie Adams Barnstorm XXIII workshop participant. McLoughlin was presented with the 2013 Professional Photographer Leadership Award by the United Nations International Photographic Council.

Her work often explores how policy, place, and social systems shape people’s daily lives, with an emphasis on stories that unfold over time. Clark joined the Globe in 2019 and has reported on a wide range of subjects, including housing insecurity, immigration enforcement, public health, and community life. She is particularly drawn to character-driven projects that combine intimate access with sustained reporting. Woolston brings a holistic perspective to safety education, helping journalists strengthen physical security practices, improve digital resilience, and operate with a safety-first mindset on hazardous assignments. - [Chris Post](https://northernshortcourse.org/faculty/chris-post/) - Chris Post is an Emmy Award-winning photojournalist, media safety educator, and security advocate with over two decades of experience in the emergency services sector. His distinguished career spans roles such as Captain of the fire department at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, regional EMT, and disaster emergency responder with FEMA. In 2009, Chris transitioned to journalism, rekindling his passion for photography, which he first developed through analog techniques in the 1980s. His dedication to journalist safety earned him the National Press Photographers Association’s second-highest honor in 2020, recognizing his efforts to advance safety and security initiatives within the industry. Chris was awarded a 2021 Emmy Award for his work on the US Elections. Chris’s recent contributions include developing and delivering a Domestic Hostile Environment first aid course tailored for journalists, guest lecturing at universities on media safety, chairing a national committee on press safety and security, and participating in panel discussions on domestic news-gathering challenges in the United States. In recent years, Chris has been actively conducting workshops across the Middle East, sharing his expertise in safety, security, and media practices. As a photojournalist, Chris has covered high-profile events such as U.S. presidential inaugurations, political conventions, the Papal visit of 2010, and major disasters, including earthquakes in Puerto Rico, and the politically charged protests of 2020. - [Craig F Walker](https://northernshortcourse.org/faculty/craig-f-walker/) - Craig F. Walker is a staff photographer for The Boston Globe. Prior to joining the Globe in 2015, he worked at the Denver Post for 17 years. Before his time out west, Walker was a photographer at Massachusetts newspapers the Berkshire Eagle and The Marlboro Enterprise. In 2010 Walker’s photo essay Ian Fisher: American Soldier, an “intimate portrait of a teenager who joins the Army at the height of insurgent violence in Iraq, poignantly searching for meaning and manhood,” won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography. The story was also exhibited at Visa pour l’Image: International Festival of Photojournalism in Perpignan, France. Two years later Walker was awarded a second Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for Welcome Home, The Story of Scott Ostrom, a “compassionate chronicle of an honorably discharged veteran, home from Iraq and struggling with a severe case of post-traumatic stress, images that enable viewers to better grasp a national issue.” The same year, Walker was also named Newspaper Photographer of the Year in the Pictures of the Year International competition. - [Clay Patrick McBride](https://northernshortcourse.org/faculty/clay-patrick-mcbride/) - Clay Patrick McBride is known for his bold portraiture that celebrates his subjects through empowerment, humor, honesty, and grit; he has an ability to connect with his subjects in a way that is personal, intense, and collaborative in nature. His philosophy of image-making fuses experimentation with classical training in painting and art history, resulting in an iconic visual language that creates a conversation between the old and the new world. McBride began his visual training in the South of France in his late teens and early twenties before moving to NYC to study at the School of Visual Arts for photography. McBride shifted his focus to photography after being inspired by the notorious CBGB music club and the revolutionary music and visuals emerging from that scene in the Gen X 90’s. His deep interest in connecting with and understanding the world around him is what drives McBride to keep exploring new processes, techniques, and to examine the interplay between process and the portrait, time and space. A recent fascination for McBride has been collodion wet plate photography – where he brings his mobile darkroom set up to skate parks and photographs strangers. Always trying new approaches to the image, he explores chemigrams and other alternative processes, as well as film and music videos. - [Maddie Meyer](https://northernshortcourse.org/faculty/maddie-meyer/) - Maddie Meyer is a Chief Sport photographer for Getty Images based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Her regular assignments include covering New England professional sport teams the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. She has photographed 6 Olympic games, The Men’s and Women’s World Cups, and the World Swimming Championships.
