Evan Vucci

Evan Vucci is the chief photographer for the Associated Press in Washington, DC. He was part of the AP team that was awarded the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for coverage of the aftermath and protests of the death of George Floyd. His documentary video work has been awarded a National Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage of a platoon of American soldiers, and their families, during a 15-month combat tour in Mosul, Iraq. A 2000 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Vucci’s work has taken him around the world, but now focuses primarily on politics in the United States. His image of a bloody, defiant, fist-raised Presidential candidate Donald Trump following an assassination attempt became a world-renowned image that was stolen and adopted by Trump and his supporters to promote and support his candidacy. When he’s not working, Vucci spends his spare time training in mixed martial arts and competing in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu tournaments.
