Natalie Thomas
Natalie Thomas is an award-winning video journalist with Reuters, newly returned to London after 10 years in Beijing.
Since returning to London, Natalie has been covering the devastating toll of the COVID pandemic on the UK. She also embedded on a Greenpeace ship monitoring the Arctic Sea ice, for which she was nominated as a finalist for the RTS Camera Operator of the Year awards.
Prior to that, Natalie was a photojournalist (camera operator) with CNN. She covered the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic from its epicenter in Wuhan, as well as the Hong Kong pro-democracy protests, the Trump-Kim summit, and China’s creeping authoritarianism. Her team’s work covering the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak netted the George Polk Award for International Reporting – the first time the award has been given to a TV crew.
Before she joined CNN, Natalie worked for Reuters in Beijing, covering major China and regional stories like the Rohingya crisis, and travelled to North Korea several times.
